Event Information
This is a NEW opportunity for paraeducators in their 1st- 6th years of ever being a para to connect and collaborate with others new to the profession and to participate in professional development that will allow the greatest success in your first few years of being a paraeducator.
The first session is set up as a question and answer session with master paraeducators and administrators representing elementary through high school. Then the participants break out into groups by Elementary, Middle School, and High School to discuss issues relevant to being a paraeducator.
The remaining three sessions are set up as professional development sessions. The content/topics of these sessions are generated through your suggestions on this registration form.

Participants can earn up to 12 FREE Clock hours for participating!

WEA Olympic Survive and Thrive for Paraeducators (12hr)

Course Description
Paraeducators new to the profession (six years or less paraeducator experience) will learn practical skills that will help them develop strategies to successfully meet the needs of their diverse learners, become an educational leader in their school community, and engage in meaningful dialogue around what is needed to be a successful paraeducator. Participants will learn specific communication skills and techniques for engaging with colleagues and students. This course is presented in a cohort style for newer paraeducators to be able to connect across different school districts across the Kitsap/Olympic Peninsula area.Course Objectives
Participants will:
- Learn and share strategies for meeting the needs of all learners.
- Learn and develop the best strategies for how to engage and interact with students, colleagues, and families for successful student learning.
- Develop and utilize strategies for handling a range of classroom and workplace challenges.
-Deepen their knowledge of strategies to create an equitable learning environment which fosters the unique strengths and abilities of students being served
-Strengthen their ability to assist in reviewing, preparing, delivering, and reinforcing district/school/classroom instructional outcomes
