Course Description

This introductory session on National Board Certification provides an overview of the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS), basics of the certification process, and why educators consider board certification.

Course Objectives

• Receive an overview of the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards, including certificate area standards.

• Analyze Certification Components required for certification

• Explore equity considerations with the National Board process

• Examine sample Certification Timelines and make initial connections to their professional calendars.

• Determine their personal why for possibly attaining National Board Certification

• Understand and identify incentives for board certification.
