Course Description

This asynchronous course introduces educators to the effective selection, implementation, and evaluation of evidence-based practices (EBPs) that improve outcomes for all students, particularly students with disabilities and other historically underserved learners. Participants will examine how to identify trustworthy sources of research, determine whether a practice is supported by evidence, and select interventions that align with student strengths, needs, and educational contexts. The course emphasizes implementing practices with fidelity while making thoughtful decisions about adaptations that maintain the integrity of the intervention. Participants will also learn how to collect and analyze implementation and student outcome data to evaluate effectiveness and guide continuous improvement. Throughout the course, educators will consider how evidence-based decision-making promotes equitable access to instruction, reduces barriers to learning, and supports inclusive educational environments. Instructor interaction will occur through Canvas discussions, assignment feedback, and reflection activities that encourage participants to connect course content to their professional practice.

Course Objectives

By the end of this course, participants will be able to: Identify evidence-based practices and evaluate the quality of research supporting their use. Reflect on how evidence-based decision-making supports equitable access, inclusion, and improved outcomes for diverse learners.
