In order to earn clock hours for NEA micro-credentials, you need to:
(1) Complete WEA micro-credential orientation to learn about the process and select a micro-credential. Complete orientation ONCE.
(2) Register for an NEA micro-credential https://nea.certificationbank.com/Washington AND register for WEA clock hours for the specific NEA micro-credential you selected. (You are registering for WEA clock hours on this page.)
(3) Complete the WEA micro-credential workshop EVERY TIME you are working on a new micro-credential.

Education Support Professionals (ESPs): Effective Communication Proficient Level (Micro-credential) course description: In this micro-credential, education support professionals will demonstrate effective communication with diverse audiences that may include students, parents/guardians, staff, visitors, coworkers/colleagues, supervisors, and community members at their worksite. Demonstrating skills and knowledge in communication will look different depending on one’s unique role, worksite, community, and experience. Educators will show how knowledge of multiple communication methods contribute to collaborative teamwork.

Course Description
In this micro-credential, education support professionals will demonstrate effective communication with diverse audiences that may include students, parents/guardians, staff, visitors, coworkers/colleagues, supervisors, and community members at their worksite. Demonstrating skills and knowledge in communication will look different depending on one’s unique role, worksite, community, and experience. Educators will show how knowledge of multiple communication methods contribute to collaborative teamwork.Course Objectives
-Educators will demonstrate how effective communication shapes their experiences and effectiveness at work.
-This micro-credential is based on the Universal Standard of Communication from the NEA's ESP Professional Growth Continuum (PGC), which defines communication as the ability to effectively listen and communicate (written and verbal) with a diverse audience including students, parents/guardians, staff, visitors, and community.
-Communication for education support professionals can be broken into two skill areas: Responsible Communication and Effective Communication. This micro-credential focuses on effective communication.
