About
On behalf of the WEA Human and Civil Rights Committee, we would like to invite you to attend our one day HCR Leadership Summit and Action. This conference is open to all WEA members with an emphasis on BIPOC members and White Allies & Accomplices that are seeking to develop their culturally responsive leadership.
The WEA HCR Leadership Summit is a grow your own model of leadership development that prepares future WEA BIPOC leaders and White allies to advocate for racial, social and economic justice for our students, communities and WEA members. Eliminating institutional racism begins with individuals using their leadership and positions of power to do the right thing. Participants will examine how to “organize” a resilient culture of inclusion and equity through their leadership and advocacy. Sessions will include Organizing, Political Action, Organizing Equity Teams, and Running for Office.
We continue to strategically use our resources to invest in educators by providing opportunities that increase their awareness and understanding of their responsibilities as leaders, regardless of title or role, as well as focus on greater inclusion and diversity among its leaders.
We look forward to seeing you on Saturday, October 26, 2024 at Todd Beamer High School. Breakfast starts at 7:30 and we kick off our conference at 8:00.
See you soon!
