Micro-credentials are job-embedded, self-directed learning to demonstrate competency in a specific area. Over 200 NEA micro-credentials are available. Come learn more in this orientation course. Participants will learn what an NEA micro-credential is, choose a micro-credential to complete, and plan for next steps in registration, clock hours, and submitting a micro-credential. While completing certain specific micro-credentials will meet the equity or STEM certificate renewal requirements, this orientation itself does not meet the equity or STEM requirement. This orientation meets the Leadership certificate renewal requirement.
In order to earn clock hours for NEA micro-credentials, you need to:
(1) Complete WEA micro-credential orientation to learn about the process and select a micro-credential. Complete orientation ONCE.
(2) Register for an NEA micro-credential https://nea.certificationbank.com/Washington/WEA/StackLibrary_WEA.aspx AND register for WEA clock hours for the specific NEA micro-credential you selected at wea-win.org
(3) Complete the WEA micro-credential workshop EVERY TIME you are working on a new micro-credential.

Micro-credentials are job-embedded, self-directed learning to demonstrate competency in a specific area. Over 200 NEA micro-credentials are available. Come learn more in this orientation course. Participants will learn what an NEA micro-credential is, explore options, and plan for next steps. After completing this course, participants will be ready to start work, and will understand the requirements for earning Washington state clock hours for an NEA micro-credential. Participants will attend this course ONCE to learn about how to access and choose an NEA micro-credential. This course is designed for ALL certificate and job roles. After completing this orientation, you will be eligible for the clock hours for this session, and will be eligible for additional clock hours after successfully completing an approved NEA micro-credential. While completing certain specific micro-credentials will meet the equity or STEM certificate renewal requirements, this orientation course itself does not meet the equity or STEM requirement. This micro-credential orientation meets the Leadership certificate renewal requirement.Course Objectives
• Learn about micro-credentials and the role of competency-based learning in a micro-credential
• Explore the NEA Micro-credentials and select one to complete. Register for an NEA micro-credential account.
• Clarify the support structure available through WEA to complete an NEA micro-credential for Washington state clock hours
• Identify next steps to start your individual micro-credential work
