Course Description

Minecraft Education for STEM is an immersive 12-hour live Zoom course designed to empower educators to use Minecraft Education in any subject, with a focus on STEM. Spread across four three-hour sessions, this workshop is ideal for beginners and intermediate users alike, providing hands-on instruction on the basics of Minecraft Education while building confidence to integrate this versatile tool into their classrooms. Educators will explore ready-made lessons, collaborative and competitive activities, and the basics of world-building and hosting multiplayer sessions. An optional three-hour homework component allows participants to share their implementation plans and receive feedback. Participants will learn how to create engaging, standards-aligned lessons that promote critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration. The course also connects Minecraft Education to career-ready skills and pathways, demonstrating its potential as a tool to inspire students and enhance their learning experiences in STEM and beyond.

1. Understand the basics of Minecraft Education, including movement, building, and saving worlds.

2. Explore how to search for, adapt, and implement ready-made Minecraft lessons for any subject, with a focus on STEM topics.

3. Design and build custom Minecraft experiences, including collaborative and competitive activities, to engage students in real-world problem-solving.

4. Learn classroom management strategies for hosting multiplayer sessions and sharing worlds with students.

5. Use Minecraft Education’s tools like the Camera, Book & Quill, and NPCs to allow students to document and showcase their learning.

6. Connect Minecraft Education activities to career-ready skills such as coding, project management, and virtual collaboration, inspiring students to explore STEM career pathways.
